korean beef BBQ recipe
We are at the stage in our 3 year old’s life where she has no interest in eating anything except 3 things: Chick fil a, Chinese Food, and bread. It’s our daily struggle to make sure little Addy eats something everyday, and how I do that is to add something familiar to her meals, while trying to mix up something new.
She loves to go to Korean restaurants, and frequently asks to “go to a restaurant.” Beef Bulgogi is her latest favorite thing. After finding this easy korean recipe online via , I knew I had to try it! Beef Bulgogi is made with beef steak, but after seeing the more affordable option of using ground beef, I wanted to see if it would past the test of the picky 3 year old.
Need less to say it was a hit! She smelled it the second I started cooking and waited anxiously. 3 servings later, she was full and down for the count!
Easy Korean Beef
(For our family, we doubled this recipe. With a family of 6, one being a baby, we have some heavy eaters, plus I had a feeling they would love it and ask for more!)
1 lb LEAN ground beef
1 Tbsp sesame oil
1/4 – 1/2 cup brown sugar (I actually did 1/4 cup, which was still sweet, but doesn’t look as glazed as the original poster’s.)
1/4 cup soy sauce (I use less sodium soy sauce.)
1/2 tsp fresh ginger, minced (You can buy a piece of ginger root, peel it, & cut it into 1-inch cubes, freeze & pull what you need. [Rachael Ray tip of the day.] It freezes well & actually grates easily too.)
1/2 – 1 tsp crushed red pepper
Green Onions to garnish
1. Brown meat in skillet with garlic & sesame oil. Drain any excess grease/oil.
2. Add brown sugar, soy sauce, ginger, red peppers, salt & pepper. Simmer a few minutes to marry the flavors & serve over rice; top with green onions. YUM! You can also add vegetable to this dish to make it go farther. Prepare California Vegetables, and top it over the rice before the beef.
Sounds FANTASTIC and looks AMAZING!
That actually really does look easy!
I am totally trying this! Its like a beef version of Larb and sounds so easy!
Pin now I will try later.
It’s totally fantastic… I cook a huge crockpot of ground beef and freeze it in 1lb bags… This is one of my favorite dishes to use it with. Perfect for when I’m at my shop all day cause it’s done in 20 minutes or less
